In this message from our Journey with Jesus series, we walk through John 21:20–23 and look at what happens when Peter, freshly recommissioned by Jesus, gets distracted by someone else’s path.
How often do we do the same?
Even after grace, restoration, and clear direction from God, it can be easy to lose focus when we start looking at what God is doing in someone else’s life. But Jesus brings Peter, and us, back to one simple, weighty command: “You follow Me.”
This sermon reminds us that:
God is not distracted by your dysfunction
Jesus had both a solution and an assignment for Peter
Comparison, jealousy, disappointment, and distraction can keep us from fulfilling our divine assignment
In the Kingdom of God, obedience matters more than comparison
No matter what has tried to pull your attention away, this word is an invitation to refocus on Christ, trust His care, and follow Him with urgency and faithfulness.
