Sound Engineer (Contractor)

About The Garden Life Church

The Garden Life Church (TGLC) is a growing church plant in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, currently gathering at Charlene McKinzey Middle School in Mansfield, TX. We exist to unify and mature the Church to transform the world by cultivating community, building up the body of Christ, and sending God's people into the world.

Our motto: Meet God, Be Planted, Grow Strong, Bear Fruit.

About the Role

We're looking for a Sound Engineer to lead front-of-house and monitor audio for our worship services and events. This is a hands-on role: as a mobile church, our team sets up, sound checks, and tears down our full audio system each week, so this role pairs skilled live mixing with dependable setup and teardown. You'll work closely with our Worship Pastor and worship team to help create an environment where people can encounter God without distraction.

This is an independent contractor position, not an employee role.

What You'll Do

  • Mix front-of-house sound for worship services and events
  • Mix and manage stage monitors / in-ears for the worship team
  • Set up, sound check, and tear down our portable audio system each week
  • Run line checks and troubleshoot audio issues in real time during services
  • Care for and maintain our audio equipment, flagging repairs or replacements as needed
  • Coordinate with the worship team on song-specific audio needs

What We're Looking For

  • Experience mixing live sound, ideally in a worship or live-band setting
  • Comfort and competence with modern digital consoles and in-ear monitor systems
  • Willingness and ability to set up and tear down a portable system weekly — this is not a fixed-install role
  • A collaborative, teachable spirit and comfort serving in a Christian worship environment
  • Reliability: this role supports a weekly, recurring commitment

Prior credit or engagement with a church, worship team, or live-band audio setting is preferred. We value strong references and real experience over a formal resume — you're welcome to share work samples (a mix, recording, or video) in place of or alongside one.

Services & Schedule

  • Sunday worship services, including rehearsal and soundcheck
  • Prayer Nights at rotating locations, when sound support is needed
  • Special services (Christmas, Easter, and similar)
  • Revivals and conferences, as scheduled

Compensation

This role is paid per Sunday worship service. Prayer Nights, revivals, and conferences are compensated separately per event.
